I love geeky apps like the metal detector for my android phone that makes my phone light up when its in contact with metal objects and I love useful apps like a tip calculator so I don’t have to think what 12.5% divided by 6 people is. Then there’s some apps that fall right in between that offer really useful features whilst still appealing to my inner geek. WaveSecure is an app for Android, S60, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile phones that protects your phone from being used by thieves. The application is flexible with the protection it provides. By going to the website, you can lock your phone, track the location of your phone, or even perform a remote wipe and clear off all the data (which is also backed up automatically on their site!).

My phone is unlocked, so anyone who found it could just slide in their SIM and start using the phone…not the case with this software. Any time a new SIM is entered, the phone is locked and a message can be displayed with details on how to return the phone. My phone pretty much runs my life, so its nice to know that even if a thief runs off with it, its still in good hands.
